The depth of emotions that Christi Caldwell puts in her books is amazing and To Enchant a Wicked Duke is no exception. I felt Nick’s agony over what he lost and rode the same emotional roller coaster he did while discovering the true Justina. And the devastation Justina felt upon learning her role in his revenge had me bawling. I admired Justina’s strength in handling all that life threw her way. And fell in love with Nick as he realized what his hatred would cost him and his willingness to try and change.
A definite 7 hankie read!!!

This book is about Miss Justina Barrett and Nick Tallings, the Duke of Huntly. Justina is the daughter of a man who gambles and is in dun territory. He cares only for himself and is willing to give her to any man who will pay the money he owes. Nick's family was destroyed when Nick was a boy and he wants to destroy the man responsible. So the story begins. I loved this book. This author is one of my favorites. I highly recommend it.
I've said it before and I'll say it again! I LOVE EVERY BOOK IN THIS SERIES!!! Each time a new one is released, I want to start over and read them all! I hope the series goes on forever! There are so many characters just in this book who need their HEA! I can't wait to read Andrew's. The poor guy started out a bit of an idiot, but you could always see a good heart under it and he definitely seems to be on a better path now. He definitely deserves true love! Great job again, Christi Caldwell! I can't wait for the next one!!
I loved watching this plot evolve. Nick's been wounded to his soul. Justina would be pivotal to his future, but maybe not in line with his plans. Story progressed really well, characters evolved beautifully. As usual, Christi wrapped us up in the suffering of our hero, and the strength of our heroine. Well done.
My favorite bad boy Rutland has left his mark. Nick (Dominick) Tallings was the result of Rutland’s old life coming back to haunt him. Unfortunately Nick’s revenge is to attack those around him. Nick’s actions are not as sweet as he originally thought…not when his pawn ends up being the one woman who can reach the person he used to be. I loved how he struggled with the hatred, which had kept him strong for so many years, and the feelings he had towards Justina. He didn’t want to hurt her, but he needed his revenge for his family. Justina was so much more than an empty headed diamond of the ton. She opened his heart showed him the light and he gave her the strength to find her courage and voice. Two people who belonged together but with such darkness standing in the way. “There is always another move to make. It is about making the right one.” (Justina’s words). Seeing the choices Nick makes and the consequences of these choices, as well as Justina’s reaction was so worth reading. Revenge is not as sweet as they say.
I admit that I have read all of Christi Caldwell's books and there is a reason for that- I am never disappointed. In this story of Justina and Nick, the use of poetry adds a new level of interest. It makes me want to go back and read all those poems of shelley and Byron that I haven't revisited since school! The last surprise in the story makes one gasp! Read it. You won't be disappointed!
Justina and Nick are the focus of this 13th in The Heart of a Duke series. Nick finally moves on the plans to seek revenge on the man who utterly destroyed Nick's family. He now had the wealth, the prestige, the power and the pawn was within his grasp. Unfortunately, Nick did not know his pawn, Justina, was a smart, charming, honest and thoroughly thoughtful person. It seems "the best laid plans . . . " etc. do not always work out. Fine dialogue, excellent characterization, and well-described relationships brought the story to life for me. Additionally, Ms. Caldwell truly brought forward the wreckage to a family that is wrought by alcohol and gambling addictions. A historical romance and a HEA with intelligence.
Either I love the books by Christi Caldwell or I really dislike them. This book started off very good and since I started with the free sample, I purchased the whole book. That was when it became boring and so slow, I never felt a connection between Nick and Justina. This is a story about revenge and how Nick redeemed himself at the end by not following through with the revenge that had dominated his life for several years. At times I found Nick unmanly and Justina, just plain silly. There were not many characters I liked in the book, save for one, Nick's niece.
